 Better Life
Ministries Church Of God In Christ was founded in
May 1993 by Elder Duane S. McNair, Sr., along with
his wife Missionary Velma F. McNair; and sons, Elder
Duane S. McNair, Jr. and Minister Jonathan Lee
McNair. The first church was located at 2210 Myers
Road, a Masonic lodge in the South Norfolk section
of Chesapeake, Virginia. In 2000, the Lord blessed
Better Life Ministries to purchase a permanent
church home at 2101 Atlantic Avenue, Chesapeake,
Virginia. It was indeed a joyous day, June 20, 2000;
we paraded from our old home to our new home. We are
now located at the most traveled intersection in
Chesapeake, at the corners of Battlefield Boulevard,
Campostella Road, and Atlantic Avenue! To God be the
Glory!
Today, Better Life is a Church whose foundation is
the Word of God! According to the Word of God, we
are here “For the
perfecting of the saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ”.

Better Life
Ministries is a Place of Worship.
Each week, we assemble
together and we direct our focus to God, our
Creator. (Psalm 100:3) tells us,
“Know ye that the Lord he is God; It is he that
hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his
people, and the sheep of his pasture.”
Therefore, we give Him our worship, and we receive
His blessings. This brings about spiritual
refreshing that is reflected in our every day
behavior. |

Better
Life Ministries is a Place of Learning.
Each week, we
gather together in different settings; Sunday
school, Adult Bible Study, Purity Class (Bible Study
for Youth); and Sunshine Band (Children’s Bible
Study), so that we can be instructed intellectually
how to live spiritually. We believe the Bible to be
the inspired and only infallible written word of
God. We believe the bible is relevant to life today
and at Better Life Ministries’ learning to live
according to God’s word is a wonderful experience.

Life Ministries is a Place of Service.
Each week, the members
of Better Life accept the call to minister to God’s
people, within and without the wall of our local
church building. We use as our example, the Greatest
Servant of all, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. |

Life Ministries is a Place of Fellowship.
Each week, we
experience the joy that comes from getting to know
other believers and building bonds that time, nor
distance cannot destroy. These bonds are founded on
principles based in the word of God. Each week, our
circle is expanded as God’s word is taught and
received. Because there is no limit to God, there is
no limit to this ever expanding Circle of
Fellowship. My friend, there is room for you! |
